Conveyor Belts, The Eminent Dead, and Reduction

January 29, 2023

Hey friends,

Happy Sunday. 2023 is a year of resilience for me. Let me tell you why.

The world is changing oh so quickly and we're being pushed and pulled through some troubled waters. Wherever your attention is currently focused, you're probably seeing some difficulty as the world is in the process of correcting.

Resilience to me is rethinking fast. Fast can be fragile. Slow can be strong.

This isn't to say to be prudent, but rather patient. We'll get to our destination eventually. Anyway, here's some articles this week.

The Conveyor Belt of Life

Why are we not aware of the obvious things that bring us gifts? I question why many gifts were coming into my life, but never realized the conveyor belt right in front of me.

The Eminent Dead

Making sense of the world is hard. But it becomes a hell of a lot easier when we ask the dead for some help.

Reducer vs. Producer

In a world where everyone is obsessed with productivity, why not do the exact opposite? Does reducing in an overproduced world help you make progress?

Have a creative week,

Jon

P.S. Now might be a good time to look up rather than be heads down.

Being a Hammer and Collecting Seeds February 12, 2023 Hey friends, Happy Sunday. Over the last few years, I've been in a mode. This mode is mostly concerned with the pursuit of truth, virtue, and moral responsibility. Previously, I had been living a hedonic lifestyle in which I couldn't get off the treadmill. Each day I'd see myself between two choices. I can either follow pleasure or possibility. What I'd find is that pleasure disappoints, possibility never does. Interestingly enough, both...

What Could Go Right, Good Products Gone Bad, and Life's Operating System February 5, 2023 Hey friends, Happy Sunday. I know this sounds cliché, but one of the biggest lessons I've had over the last few months is one of opposites. I had just come off writing a book and re-thinking just about everything in my life. One major revelation I had was that it is sometimes more important to know what one should not think about rather than what one should think about. I started to question the true...

On Suffering, Inhabiting Habits, and Knowledge Is Power January 22, 2023 Hey friends, Happy Lunar New Year. Today marks the three week mark in January where majority of people who start New Year resolutions give up. If you're finding resistance in the change you're trying to make this year, do not give up. Showing up is the hardest part. Part-Time Programmer If one of your goals this year is to learn how to teach yourself something hard like programming, I have a book on Amazon that I also...
